What’s so hard about Lent?
Dear friends,
Many of those who call ourselves Christians are currently navigating Lent, a 40-day season of penitence, repentance, and forgiveness. I wouldn’t characterize Lent as a wildly popular season, mostly because it is an invitation that calls us away from the patterns of life that keep us from living fully into who God created us to be–and that’s the hard work of change.
There are so many other things I know I’d prefer to do than to engage in the work of change.
Laundry, anyone?
Temptation knows this about us, so instead of doing the hard work of change, we’re lured toward a more comfortable mixture of apathy and familiarity that makes us blind to the new possibilities God perpetually and even insistently offers us.
I am so delighted to share this month’s news about the work of Invested Faith; we want to be people who actively welcome the many, varied, beautiful, and profoundly world-changing ways in which the work of God shows up among us.

The field of Spiritual Entrepreneurship is in an exciting and emergent space, sitting at the intersections of traditional religion and spirituality, social impact, activism, and human-centered design. As the field continues to evolve, it is increasingly important to define precisely what it means to be a Spiritual Entrepreneur and the ethics of ministering through the enterprise model. What entails a spiritual entrepreneur in today’s world? How can spiritual entrepreneurs ensure and define ‘success’ in this field? Where do we even begin with our exploration in spiritual entrepreneurship?
Join Rev. Eugene Kim of New Wine Collective, Pastor Amy Butler of Invested Faith, and Dr. Patrick Duggan of the United Church of Christ Church Building & Loan Fund to answer these and many more as they engage in a conversation about their journeys with spiritual entrepreneurship. This virtual event will be moderated by Rabbi Elan Babchuck, Founding Director of Glean Network.

Meet Invested Faith Fellow: Managerrie Winston

Her ‘BeYourSELf’ Program offers culturally relevant yoga, meditation, and mindfulness events for teens.
Winston offers groups for students based on the KIT Project along with professional development training for teachers, youth leaders and anyone working with youth on the margins of society.
